Recycling old T-shirts and Jeans

I love to craft.
What I love even more is when I
can craft and recycle items.
My son who is 14 has out grown his
old jeans as well as come old t-shirts.
So I decided to turn them into a Christmas gift
for him. I decided to make him a quilt out of his old
clothes! It is super simple but it does take some time.

Here is a list of things you will need.
* Old t-shirts
* Old jeans
* Scissors
* Pins
* Sewing Machine
* An idea at how big you want it
* design of layout

~
What I did was started with how big I wanted it.
I decided I wanted it big enough to fit on a
double bed.
Then I took the t-shirts and planed my layout
based on the images on the shirt.
~
~
Then I took the access pieces from the shirt to
Make other pieces.
~
~
Then from there I made cut out temps to use
for my pattern.

Then I started the fun part!
Putting them together.
Once I had more then 1 row done. I started
to sew them together.

Once I have all the front done. Then I
will go buy a piece of material big enough and
in m y sons favorite color to do the back. As well as
get the fiber quilt filling to do on the inside.
Then I will tie it with yarn.

(I am only done with the top of the quilt so far)

  1. Such an amazing idea! Another cute Christmas gift idea for a girl are upcycled fabric bows! I have been making these for a while now and they have become insanely popular. I have found some wonderful fabric from garments that would have other wise been thrown away. I use the best parts of the garment, wash it, then sew the fabric into hair bows =)
